The 5 Skincare Essentials For A Wintery Glow
Mar 01, 2021
Did you know that the weather + your environment is one of the top contributing factors to what your skin looks and feels like? And as the weather changes, your skin changes.
I’m here to set you up for success so you can have radiant, glowing skin all winter long. 🤩
Because winter makes our skin dry, flaky, patchy, itchy, and red. And ...
Taking care of your skin is one of the easiest ways to love on yourself. And you deserve to the have the prettiest skin in all the land, you babelicious babe, you.
LET'S DISCUSS THE ESSENTIALS:
☃️ Chemical Exfoliants: Usually found in serums. If you're new to using chemical exfoliants + AHA's, start with Lactic Acid because it's one of the more gentler exfoliating acids. Lactic Acid is a good ingredient to have in your arsenal to help get rid of dead skin cells and brighten up your complexion without being too harsh.
- Try The Ordinary's Lactic Acid 5% or 10%. If your skin is sensitive, start with the 5%, Both under $7.
- Can get at Ulta or Sephora.
- Apply at night ONLY (this goes for all AHA's), after your cleanser + toner, before your moisturizer.
☃️ Moisturizer: If you don’t use moisturizer in the summer (you should, tho), you best get one for the winter! This is non-negotiable! You may opt for a richer and denser moisturizer in the winter than what you use in the summer, depending on your skin type and where you live.
- If your skin is flaking + itchy, invest in First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Cream. Price starts at $15 for travel size and goes up to $42 for A LOT of product. Lasts me at least 3 months.
- Available at Ulta, Sephora, and First Aid Beauty's website.
- Apply daily, 2x a day!
- If you need help picking a moisture let me know. I'm here for you!
☃️ Facial Oils: Facial Oils are good for EVERYBODY! Yes, even oily skin. This is because oil and oil cancel each other out .. aka can actually REDUCE your oils! #truestory
- My current go to is The Ordinary's 100% Squalane Oil because it helps with inflammation + anti-aging. AND it's only $7.90.
- ^ Also available at Sephora or Ulta.
- For dry or combo to dry skin, apply 2x a day after your moisturizer.
- For oily or combo to oily skin, apply with your PM routine.
- Go to bed looking like a glazed donut.
☃️ Lip Balm: Just like everything else, our lips get drier in the winter and tend to crack .. Especially if you live somewhere with minimal humidity. Keep your lip balms in your purse (or at your desk) and apply when needed.
- I'm obsessed with Mario Badescu's Lip Balm. It's only $8 and my lips feel SO soft. I can't get enough of it.
- Available at Ulta + Mario Badescu's website.
☃️ SPF: This is major! A lot of people tend to think that SPF is not important in the winter because you’re not sitting in the sun. Total myth! If you’re outside, driving, or hanging out on your front lawn, social distance hanging … you NEED SPF!
- If your foundation has SPF in it and you wear it EVERY TIME you go outside, then that's perfect.
- But if not, check out Pacifica Beauty because they have multiple options, free of harmful chemicals.
- ^ Available on their website + Ulta, all around $16.
☃️ Hydrating Masks: Treat yo self!
- Check out Innisfree Jeju Root Mask. Their sheet masks are infused with Hyaluronic acid + sunflower seed oil ... AND the sheets are biodegradable! #hollerations environment friendly brands. Oh and only $2.
- Available on their website + Sephora.
- Use 1-3x a week while you're watching your favorite show or taking a bath, surrounded with candles + crystals, while listening to a podcast + drinking a class of wine. Spa. It. Up!
